audiences

I conducted a survey for young people to see what they most like to see in horror movies and to see what ages they started to see them. The survey was done on 10 teenagers in my college. From this survey I found out that all of them like to watch horror films and they all started watching them at a young age, which varied from 5-11. This is why I decided to have the age certificate at 15 unfortunatly I knew that my film would not make it into the certificates of 12 or PG as it was far to violent to be aimed at people these ages. Also most of them circled death or violence as the thing that scares them the most in horror films, so this is why I decided to have mine based on violence and death. It also ends on a cliffhanger which make them eager to find out more.

From my research on the pearl and dean website I found out that the people who mostly go to see horror films is people aged 15-24 so I thought that it would be most appropriate to have the film rated as a 15. This way it would be increasing my target audience.  I think the production company that would distribute my film would be Studio canal which is also the production company for "Shaun Of Dead". I found this out by looking on IMDB for the production company for "Shaun Of The Dead" and then I went onto their website and looked up all the horror movies they have produced. They have produced a lot of horror films in contrast to working title films which is what else I researched but they seem to only produce comedy type films like "Bridget Jones" and "About a boy".  They also have a joint partnership with Universal. This would have been really beneficial for my film as they are a top distribution company with many extra ties like  magazines, radio stations ect.... and also I would be able to market it in America but unfortunatly I do not think they would have distributed my film as the genre is horror so I have to go with a production company which is distributes the horror genre and that would be "studio canal". Shaun of the Dead was proven to be a sucess so hopefully with the help of "studio canal" mine will be a sucess too.
